The S Family

I had so much fun photographing the gorgeous S family!  We walked around the golf course and found so many pretty spots.  The kids were done by the end, but I got a few silly ones of them.  :)

Mr. E

The adorable Mr. E gave me a run for my money when we did his indoor newborn shoot.  He was not in the mood for photos, although he did let me get a couple.  He seemed to enjoy the outdoors a lot more, and I was delighted to get a few adorable ones of him and his cutie pie brother.  :)

The Importance of Photos...

I'm getting a little personal on the blog today.  I'm going to talk about the importance of getting family portraits done.

Very often, I hear people say things about wanting to lose those last 10 pounds before getting their photos taken.  I hear about not having the time, money, or how "my husband hates getting his picture taken."  And I understand all of this.  I really do.  There are days when I don't put on makeup, my hair is a mess, I'm covered in dog hair and whatever my kids had for lunch - and one of my kids will come running over with their little camera and say, "Smile, Mommy!"  And you know what?  I smile.  I smile even though I'm cringing inside because I know what I look like.  Because my kids look at these pictures and they see none of that.  They just see their mom.  And to them, I look alright.

Nine years ago this September, my father died of a brain tumor.  All too often we go through family pictures and he's in the background (and even worse - he's often eating something or making a very unattractive face).  These are what I have to show my kids.  Granted, there are a few photos here and there that are decent.  And when my dad was diagnosed, my mom quickly booked a portrait session at JCPenney, so that we had something.  But how I wish I had a ton of candid shots of my dad showing off his goofy smile.  I wish I had them to show my kids the quirkiness that was their granddad.

So I urge you to step in front of the camera.  Get family portraits taken once a year.  Moms, hand over the cameras and let someone take your picture with your kids.  (We are the worst offenders!)

It's so important because you don't know what tomorrow brings.  So, get in the photos today.
